busy, busy, busy

Last weekend was our super fun camping trip that turned into a super short camping trip. It was also supposed to be a shopping trip, but that got eliminated all together. We got to Laramie Friday night and stayed in town. Then we headed up to the Mountains on Saturday morning, after getting yelled at by a crazy old man for leaving our cars by the gas pumps too long. We were called rude and something like stupid, I can't remember the exact word he used. Saturday was beautiful, sun was shining and everything. I got a nap in, went for a "hike", made some food... it was a perfect day of camping. We got up early on Sunday morning, and I started making breakfast. I noticed some dark clouds heading our way and we all started packing up camp (since we had decided we would all leave at some point on Sunday). We didn't make it in time. It started raining, drenching everything. So, everyone got their stuff (wet and dirty) into their cars and we headed out of the mountians. Kyle and I stopped in Laramie and repacked and cleaned out some of our stuff, so it wouldn't be clanging around for the 4 hour trip home. It was fun, and worth it in the end. Got to spend some quality time with Rhea & Harley, the Raine's, and our new friends, Brian, Nicole & their kids. It was good. We didn't stop to shop on the way home because I smelled like a sweaty campfire and didn't think they'd look to favorably on me trying on clothes. This weekend, though, we get to SHOP! Yes!

So, anyway, it was a fun weekend. We were supposed to have Monday off, too, but Kyle got called into work, so I went in too and it ended up being one of my worst days at work. Some of the reports didn't get run over the weekend, so I ended up having to look up gas values one at a time. I was crabby.

The rest of the week was more of the same, with a little web coordination mixed in just to keep me one step away from going crazy.

Tomorrow, we're taking the day off and heading down to Colorado Springs for some SHOPPING and some hanging out with the in-laws. I'm pretty excited about it.

superhero friend comes through in a pinch

Today, our company's internet was shut off by the Evil Jen. One phone call to Super Nikki saved the day and she turned us back on, saving the company from imminent doom. Or at least saved us from a lot of crabby people who can't see how their stocks/team/gossip column is doing. Thanks, Nikki, you're the best.

i am an anal perfectionist.

We're going on a super fun camping trip this weekend. I'm taking Friday afternoon and Monday off. Because I'm going to be gone, I've been training our super-sweet summer help, Brianna. I started training her yesterday and found myself saying things like "Well, usually, I put an extra space there." Or, "Make sure the first letter is capitalized."And my favorite, "I generally put those in alphabetical order first." As soon as I said that, I realized that I was crazy. Today, I have been trying to let her do it her own way. I mean, does it really matter if you select all with the mouse or press CTRL + click?

The first step is admitting you have a problem...

iPod is iWorking

We FINALLY got some (borrowed) software to upgrade Kyle's computer and were able to get the iPod working this weekend. It's fun. I really like it. I've already been thinking up playlists I want to put on it. Running, Road Tripping, etc. All kinds of fun in store with this thing. However, NO WORD yet on when the other gift will be in. Punks.

birthday blues... part 2

I was so excited when the software we needed (to finally get the iPod to work) came yesterday. We waited until after Kyle's birthday dinner (which we were late to thanks to the mechanic at my work - another story for another time) to install it. However, when he put the CD in, it just popped right back out. No matter what we did, same results. This CD was not going to work. Then, I realized that it was DVD, Kyle's mac didn't have DVD, just CD. At this point, we are both pissed. I double checked our order, the page we ordered it from - no CD choice. Apparently everyone has DVD on their computer but us. I call apple support. I can send in the DVD to another place, with $10 and get the software on CD. Ok, hold on - I have to buy the DVD, wait a week to get it, then send it away again with MORE MONEY and wait another week or two before I can use the freaking software? I hang up the phone before saying things about Steve Jobs I'll regret later. So, Kyle's iPod is still not a USEFUL present. No word yet on the the BIG present I got him. A check on the status: Employee: "Hmm, usually that would be in by now." Me: "Can you tell me when it will be in?" Employee: "No, we have no way of knowing that since it's a special order." Now, maybe my logic is off, but it would seem that SPECIAL order would be easier to track than the millions of regular items you get every day. Ok, so that was sucky present #2. We finally get around to actually opening the fun, little gifts I got him: Homestarrunner stuff. A poster, key chain, and cool Trogdor polo. However, the trogdor polo is too big and I can't find the receipt or packing list to send it back. And that was sucky present #3. Perfect birthday turned into a disaster. Made me really sad. And to top it off, I was sick last night. Fun. Happy Birthday, Kyle. Sorry!

birthday blues

Tomorrow is Kyle's birthday. All of my plans to surprise him with great birthday gifts are going up in smoke. I'm very sad. For instance, I got him a new iPod mini I knew he would love. I let him open one present early since I hadn't seen him all week and was feeling like a softy. He opened the iPod, was really excited about it, went to download all of his music off of iTunes... and.. nothing. His operating system needed to be upgraded in order to work with the stupid iPod. So, we had to order the latest, greatest Mac OS. This added a fun $130 to the gift and is on order and won't be here until Friday, if we're lucky. So, he has a great new toy that he can't play with. All of the little "side" presents have arrived and are wrapped. That's the good news. More bad news - the "BIG" present that i'm getting him (I can't say what it is, because he might read this) was ordered last week and I was told it would be 5 days until it was in. We're going on 7 days and still nothing. The manager will be calling me tomorrow with the status of the order. IT NEEDS TO BE HERE TOMORROW! I'm sad. I had such good intentions and planned ahead... and still, there will not be the Greatest Birthday Ever that I had planned. :(

my niece/nephew....

Check out the latest pic of my sister's alien baby: http://terakoup.blogspot.com/ Since I can't really make out any of the features, I've decided that Tera really wasn't kidding about the alien abduction. The only alien names I can think of are ET and Mork. Help me find a good nickname for the little martian.

5k madness

Saturday now is equal to 5k day at our house. We woke up really early and got ready for ANOTHER 5k this weekend. Kyle didn't run, he got home late and worked late all week and he just didn't feel like it. But, for some reason, I thought I needed to be punished for some yet unknown crime, and ran without him. It was a good run except for the Mt. Everest-like hill in the middle of mile 2. It sucked. Bad. But, all my "practice" paid off and I took another 2 minutes or so off my time. I was a happy camper. And I got a yellow shirt this time. It's cute. But, I broke my streak of medalling in every 5k I've been in. No medal this week. But, I'm ok with it.

lack of posts

Kyle was out of town last week. As soon as he left, our basement (where the office/computer is located) became inhabited by monsters, lunatic serial killers, and psycho rapists. So, obviously, I couldn't come down here after dark and instead, retreated to the sanctuary that is my bedroom and had a week-long Gilmore Girls marathon. It was fun, but I'm glad he's back and has banished all the scary things to another place. I am now free to roam about my house during the witching hours and will resume posting like I have no other duties but to make sure you are all updated.

newsworthy.

happy birthday to me.

This morning we got up and went to the Buffalo Stampede, a 5k at the Durham Buffalo Ranch. We did better that the last one, shaved a couple minutes off our time. We both got medals - 3rd in our age division. After that, they randomly passed out buffalo dung for the buffalo chip throwing contest. I am officially the 2005 Women's Buffalo Chip Tossing Champion. And, I won a case of buffalo burgers!! Woo Hoo!! So, my birthday is starting off great!

teach a girl to hunt...feed her for a lifetime.

This weekend, we took our gun out to Kyle's parents' house and did a little target practice. It was pretty fun. Once we got the gun sighted in, I was a pretty good shot (as was everyone else). Hopefully, we'll actually get to kill things one of these days.

strange happenings in town...

Thanks, Angela, for this article. You have to read it to believe it. It pretty much speaks for itself. The best part - I tan at the Rec Center, the only place not infiltrated by the crazy underwear man.

new job.

I start tomorrow. This will be my 3rd job.

1. My 7:30-4:30 job, for the methane company (not meth, methANE)
2. Web work for miralas design.
3. Design coordinator for Visionary. (this is the new one)

I wasn't sure that I was going to do it, but then they offered to pay me $60/hour, working one hour/day. Uh... ok. I'll let you know how it goes.

early b-day gifts.

A few weeks ago, I got my birthday gift from my mom - new sunglasses, two tops, and a cool pair of flip flops. Tonight, we went out to the in-laws for supper (fajitas) and there were two beautifully wrapped presents waiting for me. After dinner, I got to open them and I got some new rugs for the kitchen and a cool new cookbook rack. In fact, I think I'll go take a picture quick and post the new gifts. The cookbook rack is on the right, holding the cookbooks. And if you can't find the rug, I can't help you.
